COME APK: release date, check date and download date

A release date, a page's check date and a file's download date answer different questions. None should silently replace the others.

Read what each date describes

A release date belongs to a particular software release. A check date says when somebody checked a record. A browser download date says when your device saved an item. If only one of these is shown, avoid inferring the other two from it.

Apply the distinction

A file saved today can still contain an older release. Likewise, a page checked today can accurately describe an unchanged version. When comparing two listings, record their version identifiers and the meaning of their dates rather than ranking them by the newest calendar value.

Ask a precise question

If timing matters, ask which release the file contains and where its release information is published. Keep a note of your own download time for troubleshooting. Do not rewrite a file timestamp or rename it to make it look newer.

A useful next step

Check version and source information together before selecting an APK to install.
